Scholarship Application  – Letter for Applicant

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in The League of Allied Arts, Inc. scholarship program. The League is a non-profit, 501c3 membership organization of professional African American women whose purpose is to study, sponsor and promote all forms of art, and to raise funds for the League Scholarship Fund. We were established in Los Angeles in 1939, at the request of Langston Hughes, by two prominent African American women, Juanita Miller and Dorothy Vena Johnson. For over seventy years, the League has supported the achievements of artists in Southern California, particularly within the African American community.

We are offering scholarship grants to students who have demonstrated
talent in the following creative arts categories:

  • Dance
  • Film &  Video
  • Performing Arts
  • Music
  • Fashion Design
  • Creative Writing

All applications must be returned to Mrs. Hassena Khan Leonard, chairman of the Scholarship Committee by SEPTEMBER 30, 2020.

Selected candidates and the parent/guardian will be invited to an interview at a later date. Awardees will be informed when they have been chosen. You must be available to accept your award and showcase your talent in a culminating event.
